This guide covers installing Secure Exam, the configuration needed to run an exam, and the safe exam shutdown procedure.

1. Installation

The browser is installed with administrator rights on a single computer, or centrally across the classroom or exam-room computer fleet. Installation prepares the desktop shortcut “Saugus egzaminas” and checks the Microsoft Edge WebView2 component.

2. Configuration

This guide describes only settings related to running the exam, the allowed exam environment, prohibited applications, and prohibited actions. Licensing, updates, server endpoints, and maintenance settings are not detailed here.

`examUrl`	The exam system address opened when the exam starts.
`whitelist`	Allowed addresses, when the exam may only reach specific exam-system domains or resources.
`allowedMonitors`	The allowed number of connected monitors during the exam.
`blockedProcesses`	Prohibited application processes that are blocked or closed during the exam.
`blockScreenRecording`	Blocking of screen recording, streaming, or remote viewing tools.
`blockClipboard`	Restricting copy, paste, and clipboard use when required by exam rules.
`blockPrintScreen`	Blocking screenshot actions.
`adminExitHotkey`	The administrator hotkey used to open the browser shutdown dialog at the end of the exam.

3. Exam flow

Before the exam, the administrator verifies that Secure Exam is installed and that the exam configuration is prepared.
The browser is started from the desktop shortcut “Saugus egzaminas”.
On startup, the browser checks whether the latest version is installed.
If the license allows it, the browser also checks the current exam configuration on the remote server.
A workstation requirements preflight form opens. It checks whether the computer meets exam security requirements, whether prohibited applications are running, and whether there is a risk of prohibited actions.
If all checks pass, the form allows the administrator or participant to choose “Start exam”.
After “Start exam” is pressed, the exam system opens in kiosk mode. The participant works only in the exam system, while other applications, windows, and prohibited actions are restricted according to the configuration.
When the exam is finished, the administrator opens the browser shutdown dialog using the configured hotkey.
In the shutdown dialog, the administrator enters the provided password.
The browser closes safely and all protections applied during the exam are disabled.

4. Administrator access

During the exam, closing the browser is available only to the administrator. It uses the configured hotkey and the provided administrator password. The participant cannot close the browser or disable protections on their own.

5. Support

If the preflight form reports issues, first resolve the listed causes: close prohibited applications, disconnect extra monitors, or correct the exam configuration. If the issue repeats, contact the institution’s IT administrator or the Secure Exam support team.
